KDT Password Protect Files

Some files are meant to be kept private, but there is nothing much you can do in this regard with Windows stock tools. If you want to protect your personal data, you should always look for third party software. KDT Password Protect Files can encrypt or hide any file or folder on your hard drive. Once encrypted, the data can not be accessed by any tool or software.

The program is very lightweight, so it will not take long to have it up and running. The setup package will take up 500 Kb of disk space and you will only have to click a Next and an Install button to start the process.

Access to the software's interface is restricted with a master password. It can be set up in a small window, immediately after launching the program. To encrypt data, you will have to add it to a list on the interface. Files or folders are added separately by clicking one of the options on the toolbar. Once they are loaded, you can select an item in the list and click the Encrypt button on the toolbar. A small window will appear on the screen, where you must type a password for the encrypted data.

The icons of the encrypted files or folders will be changed to a lock and if you try accessing them, nothing will happen. It is also possible to hide data. The Hide option can be found next to the Encrypt one and it works exactly the same way. After using this feature, the data will not be found, even if you set Windows Explorer to show hidden files.

Encrypted or hidden files are listed under different tabs on the interface. This will make it easier to differentiate normal files from protected ones. Data can be decrypted or unhidden with the same ease. If you access the Encrypted files tab, the toolbar will contain a Decrypt option, instead of an Encrypt one. The loaded data can be added to an archive as well. You just have to click the Create Archive option on the toolbar and type a password.
